Essential Oils - Psychoaromatherapy Makes Use of Pheromones and Environmental Fragrancing

Pheromones were discovered in the 1930s by Adolph Butenandt, a German biochemist. These are subliminal smells which are airborne chemicals involuntarily expelled into the air that affect the physiology or behavior of other members of the same species. Yes, humans give off pheromones. This is what helps newborn babies identify their mothers. It is what partners, lovers, and friends use to choose one another unconsciously. This is not something we are usually aware of but it is what attracts us to another person. Couples going through a break-up or divorce will often say their partner "no longer smells the same." You see-the chemical attraction between them has changed just as their emotions have changed. We each have a "smellprint" which is completely unique for us and no one else in the world has the exact same "smellprint."

Environmental fragrancing (psychoaromatherapy) is used to manipulate mood or change perception through subliminal smell. Research shows that people can be encouraged or manipulated using this method of aromatherapy. For example, customers in a store can be encouraged to purchase a particular item rather than another identical item by impregnating it with a pleasant subliminal smell. Customers in a shopping mall can be encouraged to purchase more stuff simply by diffusing a subliminal fragrance like peppermint. The ethical boundaries here are not very clear! And yet we have been subliminally affecting others probably our whole lives. How many of you used to use perfumes before you started using essential oils as your perfume of choice? And how many of you use some kind of aromatherapy locket around your neck? You are not only affecting your own mind but that of others as well.

Want to know more about essential oils and how they can help us stay healthy? Consider becoming a certified clinical aromatherapist. The Institute of Spiritual Healing and Aromatherapy teaches classes throughout the United States on aromatherapy and energy healing.

Movies Review - The Children of Huang Shi

Directors : Roger Spottiswoode

Casting : Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Chow Yun-Fat, Michelle Yeoh

Drama/History 108 minutes

Review :

The Children of Huang Shi, aka The Escape from Huang Shi in Singapore, is filmed based on a true story. Back in the World War II, a British scholar, also an associate press reporter, George Hogg(Jonathan Phys Meyers) had witnessed the killings of civilians by Japanese troops, and taken photos as evidence. Soon, he found himself held captive by the Japanese troops, and later rescued by a guerrilla leader, Jack Chen HanSheng (Chow Yun-Fat).

George then stayed in an orphanage with Jack and Lee Pearson (Radha Mitchelle), an Australian nurse. Initially George was reluctant in teaching and playing with the kids in the orphanage but their bond grew over time and George has won many hearts of the orphans there. To protect the children from the advancing Japanese and conscription from the Chinese authority, George, Jack, Lee and the children start marching toward the snowy mountains and endless desert.

The first half of "The Escape From Huang Shi" is packed with thrilling scenes, and also showcases the extent of damage could be done to a city during a war; while second half focuses on the characters and happenings in the orphanage, this is the part that captivates the atmosphere of love and warm, bringing tears to the eyes of audience.

In this movie, which based on a true story, despite the fact that George and Lee are not born in Chian, they are very highly saluted for their willingness to look beyond the scope of races and helped the China orphans.

This movie "The Children of Huang Shi" makes up for a great material, especially if it involves grand sweeping sceneries of the Chinese mountainous and desert regions. These you are going to get - the magnificently majestic visuals of China and the impressively splendid shots of the picturesque landscapes. It almost makes for a brilliant tourism video for the Chinese government.

More Companies Using Job Interview Phone Screening

Planning and preparing before you begin to send out resumes could save you some embarrassing moments when you receive that unexpected call.

You just never know when that phone is going to ring. Let's say the phone rings just as you are about to sit down for dinner, but this time it's not a pesky telemarketer -- it's a company recruiter calling. The voice on the other end of the phone says she is calling about a resume you sent in six weeks ago. 'What -- six weeks ago? I sent out 40 resumes in the past six weeks? Who exactly are you and what was the job you are calling about?' You've been caught off-guard!

The telephone 'screen call' can come at any time -- day or night. Some interviewers find evenings the best time to catch people at home, where they will be able to talk more candidly. That being the case, you should be on-call and prepared to receive a telephone interview at any time.

Even though you cannot control the timing of these calls, there are some steps that you can take to not be caught off-guard.

1. Get organized.

Set aside your materials as though you were going to a face-to-face interview. Have a folder with job postings or ads you have answered, along with company information. If you have several versions of your resume, attach the one relevant to the particular job posting. Keep this folder in a specific place so you can get to it in less than a minute. When the phone rings at an unexpected moment, tell the caller to hold and then grab your folder.

2. Be prepared.

This is key to any interview, but for the telephone interview it is essential. Practice with a tape recorder to hear the level of enthusiasm in your voice. The key to telephone interviews is projecting an upbeat image through the sound of your voice and the words you use.

3. Know what they are looking for.

Look over the job description to see what the company is seeking in a candidate. If you don't have a good description, look at other postings of similar positions to see what is being asked for. Compare what you have to offer against what they are looking for. Be ready to let the interviewer know what a good match you are for the position.

4. Alert the household.

Be sure everyone in your household -- children, roommates, etc., are aware that you will be receiving calls from recruiters and companies. The phone should be answered in a polite, professional manner. While you're at it, make sure your voice mail message is also professional and upbeat.

Telephone interviews, typically conducted by a human resources staff member or a hired recruiter, are used as screening tools to save time and money. By asking key questions, the interviewer determines whether or not it's worthwhile to pursue you further as a candidate. The screenings may consist of a few quick questions or as much as a one-hour grilling.

Some general questions you might expect in a telephone screening are:

Why are you leaving your current job? What kind of salary/job are you looking for? Tell me three adjectives that describe you. Tell me about a time when you had to solve a problem using creativity. Do you have any questions for me?

If there is some particular skill that qualifies you for a job, for example technical skills or languages, there may be some qualifying questions about the 'tools of the trade.'

Getting through this screening is critical for advancing to the next step: the face-to-face interview. This puts added pressure on you to present yourself in a positive, focused manner. If you attempt to wing this call, you may reach a dead end in the process. By organizing and preparing you will feel less stressed when these calls do come.

Day Job Killer - Say Goodbye To The 9 To 5? Check My Review

If you know anything about affiliate marketing, then you know it's tough. Not only that but it's an industry that's constantly in flux. What works one day may not work the next. If you're going to succeed in that business then you need to stay on top of the latest trends. Back in October there was an eBook released that helped you to do just that. It was called Affiliate Project X. In it's first week it broke an all time sales record and continued racking up the sales ever since. Well the author of APX has released a new product called Day Job Killer.

The Day Job Killer is authored by the same guy who wrote AdWords Miracle and Affiliate Project X, which broke the Clickbank record for sales when it was released last October (selling over 6,000 copies in just 1 week). Obviously Chris, the author knows what he's talking about. This guy understands affiliate marketing inside out.

The ebook is less than 100 pages and is extremely easy to read. It has no fluff, no hype, no outdated textbook information that doesn't work in the real world. The techniques are being used right now by a few savvy affiliates who are making a killing online. Chris lays out everything in such a way that makes it easy to understand and follow.

There are a few problems that I see with Day Job Killer, though. One of them is costs. Chris advocates using PPC programs for advertising, and these can add up tremendously. For the affiliate marketer who is just starting out, they usually don't have a lot of money to spend on advertising. Although Chris's techniques help you to minimize costs, there are still costs nonetheless, and this may turn some people off to the book.

He does offer alternative techniques, however, that are free. Unfortunately these techniques fall into the realm of a little far fetched and difficult to implement. Though I imagine that if you were able to pull them off, they could be very effective.

There are a ton of products out there that promise you overnight riches. Some of them actually contain some useful information, but most don't. If you want to try and separate the wheat from the chaff, then you have to do your research. In the dog eat dog world, everyone is trying to do anything they can to make a buck because every little bit counts. Don't believe all the hype from most of these products. Use review sites and do your research so that you don't wind up spending more money than you have to. Day Job Killer is a good product that may be worth it to you if you have some cash to throw around. Do your research before buying, though, as this one is not for everyone.

Check First Before Deciding - Conduct Background Check

Like every person in this world, we all need security and safety. We can not be too trustful in a person that we have just met for the first time. It is hard to give full trust to an individual especially if that person look too suspicious.

It is not a bad thing to be suspicious, it is like being safe and sure that you won't make any mistake in the end and regret an action that you have committed.   If you are a parent who is trying to secure your child life, you won't hire a nanny that has criminal record or even hire a stranger who knocks on your door applying to be a nanny of your child. You need to evaluate applicants before hiring them. Of course interviewing is not enough, you need to have a thorough evaluation to make sure that the nanny that you will hire don't have any criminal records.   Conducting background check is the only way that you can do to have a total evaluation of the applicant. In background check, you will know the employment history of the subject. Included on the result of background check is criminal record. So you can easily detect if a person who is applying as nanny is a convict and have bad records.   In this way you can protect your child from any harm and secure the life of your family. Conducting background check should be a standard procedure before deciding hiring a person to look on your child while you are away.

How to Prevent Cramps When Running

Have you ever been out for a run and experienced a sharp stabbing pain or cramp in the right or left lower abdomen? Have those cramps - or side stitches - affected you enough that you had to stop your run, or at least slow down and try to get relief?

Side Stitches are an unfortunate side effect of running that affects some - but certainly not all - runners. Although the medical establishment has given 'stitches' a more impressive & complicated name - Exercise-Related Transient Abdominal Pain (ETAP) - there is no definitive explanation as to why this painful condition occurs. There are several theories to explain ETAP but they remain just that: theories.

As a bit of a safety sidebar, as a runner you should know that cramps can be an early warning of heat exhaustion & dehydration. Heat exhaustion is a serious and potentially fatal condition. If you suspect that you might be suffering heat exhaustion, it is critical to hydrate and cool down as quickly as possible.

So what can you do to prevent stitches? Remember that - since there is no clear explanation as to how and why stitches occur - there is no sure-fire remedy to prevent them or make them go away if you're having them. These actions are really based on what has worked for people and hypothetical remedies have given positive results in many cases.

Remedy Number 1 - Avoid Sweet Beverages Before Running

A number of people have reported experiencing stitches when they run after consuming fruit juices and beverages high in sugar. Although there is no mechanism explained as to just how sweet beverage consumption may cause ETAP, it is possible that the conflicting demand between powering legs versus driving digestive processes leaves the abdominal muscles in distress. So, don't drink sweet beverages before running; focus instead on hydration with water, which you'll need to support running anyway.

Remedy Number 2 - Exhale When Your Left Foot strikes the Ground

What? The theory behind this method is that stitches are caused by spasms in the ligaments that support internal organs, particularly the liver. It is suggested that exhaling as the right foot strikes the ground creates larger forces on the liver while the diaphragm is rising for exhalation. Those forces repeated during a run lead to spasms in the ligaments supporting the liver. This is a very interesting idea. If you're suffering from stitches, pay attention to when your are exhaling. Perhaps refining your breathing pattern can cure this ill.

Remedy Number 3 - Breathe Deeply

One of the easiest remedies to try is breathing deeply, down into the abdomen. The theory behind this solution is that ETAP is caused by inadequate oxygen. When you're running, getting adequate breath is key to success. If you habitually breath only into your chest, you might be limiting the amount of oxygen you can inhale. Practice breathing down into your abdomen. You will get more oxygen on each breath which certainly can't hurt your running performance.

Remedy Number 4 - Don't Eat Too Soon Before Running

As with Remedy Number 1, this remedy is based on the hypothesis that stitches are caused by issues revolving around the ability to manage stomach & intestine contents while driving the intense energy-demand of running. If you're going to eat before running, consume a small meal of complex carbohydrates far enough in advance of the run that the meal will pass out of the stomach before you run. Proteins and fats take much more time to digest and can cause digestive stress if they are still in your system during a run.

Remedy Number 5 - Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate

If you've read many of my articles, you know I take hydration very seriously. Except in very rare circumstances, you cannot drink too much water. Since cramping can be caused by dehydration and since hydration aids all of your body processes, you should be drinking water on every one of your runs. Although you might think you don't need water on your short runs, I believe every run is an opportunity to practice hydration. So take a bottle of water and drink every 10-15 minutes while running.

Remedy Number 6 - Warm-Up and Stretch Before Running

Warming up and stretching before running gives your muscles some warning of the activity that is coming soon. Taking care of your body this way before a run will leave your muscles softer and better able to handle the rigors of running.

Remedy Number 7 - Train Smart

There are many reasons to run and as many ways to train. You must - however - give your body time to recover after challenging training. Neglecting to give your body adequate recovery time will lead you inevitably to injury and failure. Training requires periods of challenging yourself alternated with periods of rest and recovery. It is during rest that the body heals itself and becomes stronger. So train smart, rest sensibly and be healthy.

If you cramp during a run, slow down your pace slightly and take slower, deeper breaths. This should help to relieve the stitches by providing oxygen to the muscles that are cramping. If you're still suffering, you may need to walk, sip water and do some stretches.

So here you have a number of strategies you can use to prevent and relieve stitches. Hopefully, your runs are stitch-free and healthy.

Fathers' Rights - Do I Need to Establish Paternity?

I often get this question by fathers, especially those whose names are on the birth certificates of the children. "Do I really need to establish paternity?" The bottom line is - yes, you do. If you and the mother were not married, establishing paternity is crucial to you obtaining any rights as a father. There are actually many reasons to establish paternity that will benefit your child in the long run.

You need to understand that the only thing your name on the birth certificates establishes for you is the right to pay child support. Now, depending on your situation, you may think this isn't fair at all, but that is simply the way it is and it's not going to change. Whether or not you agreed to the pregnancy, by law both parents are responsible to take care of the child and remember--the child didn't ask for any of this.

Establishing paternity benefits the child in many ways. First off, everyone has a right to know where they come from and who their parents are. There are also things such as Social Security and inheritance that may affect them later in life and that they may benefit from as your child. And it's not just goods that can be inherited - health issues can be, too, and they have a right to know these things as well.

Establishing your paternity is going to be extremely important to you if you are planning on having any type of active role in your child's life. As I have said before, the only thing the State cares about is your money. Visitation, your relationship with the child - those mean nothing to them. And if a custody or parent's rights battle is taking place, the court is almost always going to side with the mother. As an unwed dad, you have to establish whether or not you are indeed the father.

Revisiting the School Lunch Box - How to Pack a More Healthful Meal

In our fast paced society, the hand-packed school lunches complete with an apple and a note from Mom or Dad is largely becoming a thing of the past. It is being replaced with fast fixes such an overly processed snack set with low nutritional value. There are some quick fixes for parents who want their children to have balanced meals at school so that their kids have the energy to maximize learning from the moment they get off the bus in their uniform polo shirt to the time they walk in the door that afternoon.

One way that many parents are maximizing healthy school lunches is by cooking enough dinner the night before so that it can be taken the next day for lunch. For a family of four, it's easy to throw another chicken breast for everyone on the grill and then pair it with slices of low GI bread, vegetables and mustard the next day for chicken sandwich. The leftovers might be so delicious that parents will have to add a bib apron into the lunch box in case of emergencies.

Another way parents can encourage better school lunches when the lunch box from home is not an option it to speak to the cafeteria staff. These men and women are identifiable by work clothes, often resembling a housekeeper uniform, and are often willing to make dietary adjustments. Nutritional-related issues are also often the subjects of parent-teacher organizations.

Some grocery store chains are even offering pre-packed lunches made daily that are both healthy and delicious and offer children a wide variety of lunch choices from sushi to tuna wraps. Although this can be a more expensive option, there are still many low cost options available. Parents can plan school meals just as they would weekly meals, incorporating vegetables and fruit, lean meat, cheese and yogurt and whole grains as a staple. Try and avoid high sugar and sodium items such as potato chips, cakes, candy, jams and fatty meats. Preparation is also a good time to review with children the importance of portion control. Make lunch making time a fun time. Parents can turn on some music and join in the fun. Many older children can also assist younger children with preparation. And what should children wash down the lunches with? Many juice drinks advertised as healthful options have almost as much sugar as a can of soda. Water and milk are still the best choice.
